Guess what?
John slept for seven hours last night!!! Glory Hallelujah.
And you know what else?
He and Ada are currently both napping. at the same time. Again, glory hallelujah. We are going to make it.
And for the third thing, I spent the morning having some adult time--thank you, Jessica, and happy birthday!!
It's a good day.
I am using this down time to dream a few little dreams.
Thinking about things like ripping up my terrible, horrible, makes me want to scream carpet, and replacing it with hardwood floors. Maybe one day.
And more realistically, the plan to pay off so much debt over the next six months. Thank you taxes and a car that is finally paid off. Debt snowball, here we come.
Maybe after that...hardwood floors. And some new jeans.
What else? Dreaming of a house that is painted, every room, in just the right colors. And new tables and lamps for the master bedroom. And you know, a wall in the kitchen painted in chalk board paint just for fun. (Thanks for the idea, Sarah).
And, of course, I am dreaming of losing these stubborn last ten baby pounds (though I want to lose 15). They are hanging on tight. But...thanks to John's new ability to sleep, I have started the Thirty Day Shred, and I hope to fight those pounds and come out the winner. A bonus would be to lose them in time for summer and the dreaded bathing suit post baby.
Oh how different our life will look if we can really get that debt snowball rolling, so that dream is what mainly occupies my mind.
What's on your mind, this Friday afternoon?

Daydreaming
I have still been thinking, quite a bit, about Ada's new bedroom. I have an image in my mind, and I haven't been able to put my finger on what I am looking for. Then, I visited the Anthropologie website, which is sure to leave me wanting what I can't have every single time.
And I would buy two of these quilts.
The walls would be a fun yellow color.
Let's just pretend for a second that a budget didn't exist, and I could just do what I want to do in Ada's room.
Here is how it would go.
I would buy two of these beds.

Then I would hang these on the wall
The walls would be a fun yellow color. And this would hang from the ceiling.

A girl can dream, right?

Ada's "Big Girl" Room
Scott and I have stumbled upon a deal on a twin mattress and box spring, and just like that, my vision for Ada's future room is coming together.
I want this bedding from The Land of Nod, and I love the creamy yellow walls, so I will most likely go with that. I think her red kitchen will look just perfect with all of this.
And that is the plan.
I also dream of buying a very comfy glider for the baby's room, where I will nurse and rock and even sleep if needed, but that may not make its way into the budget.
When Ada was a newborn, there was a double bed in her room, and I could just crawl in that bed during our late night, early morning, around the clock feeding/comforting sessions. This baby will not have a bed in his/her room, so I dream of a glider so comfy I can sleep in it--and nurse and rock the baby all at the same time. We'll see what happens.
In the mean time, Scott and I still need to purchase a queen mattress and box spring, as we continue to sleep on a double mattress on a queen bed. We have a double bed sitting in the garage that we will use in the office/guest room if we ever buy the queen set. Are you following me? I want all the extra sleeping space possible to entice the grandmothers to come and stay with me after the baby is born. I welcome any and all help during the first month (or two or three). The nesting is kicking in--big time--and I get a little overwhelmed by it all. Will it all come together? We'll see. Thankfully, we have until February. Stay tuned.
See the plan is this--if this growing baby is a girl, she will move right into what is now Ada's nursery, and we won't change a thing. I will buy some wooden letters to spell out her (yet to be decided) name, so there will be a personal touch. If it's a boy, I am hoping to switch my bedding with my mom, who still has the original bedding we bought for Ada--green with white elephants, and we will paint the walls, probably a brown. Everything else will stay the same. But more on that later.
The big deal will be Ada's room, mainly because it will stay her room as long as we are in this house.
Here is my vision
this bed from Ikea (with a rail on the side, which will hopefully contain Ada--wishful thinking)

And just like that, it's over
Well, this is how we spent the last three days, but we are now quickly back to reality. And to be honest, we were about to die to see little Ada. It seemed everywhere we turned there was somebody toddling about that reminded us of Ada. And if we weren't seeing someone who reminded of us Ada, we were noticing things that we were sure Ada would, "just love."But...it was so refreshing to spend some uninterrupted time together. We talked and relaxed and read lots and lots. And we ate good food. And for just a few days we didn't worry about the budget and cleaning the house and everything else that makes up daily life. It was fabulous and over far too quickly.
And, it's official, we have decided that we will retire right here. Would you like to join us in the house next door?
p.s. I have decided to put the crimper away and just make do with a little styling cream and a diffuser. Oh well, it was a fun to try something different.
